For more than 40 years, Minority Builders Coalition has been the pioneer of no-cost minor home repairs for seniors in the state of Florida. We provide no-cost minor home repairs that enable vulnerable seniors to remain safe and independent in their homes. Since the early 1980s, we have completed vital repairs and modifications for more than 25,000 seniors and their caregivers—improving their homes so they may live comfortably and safely in place; thus avoiding out of home placements.

RESTORING SAFETY AND INDEPENDENCE FOR AN ELDERLY VETERAN

Joseph G., an elderly man, experienced a plumbing emergency that caused a persistent water leak and escalating water bill. The Home Touch team intervened by repairing his outside water valve. These repairs helped Mr. G. to avoid a major economic hardship that would’ve been caused by an unaffordable water bill.

RESTORING SAFETY AND INDEPENDENCE FOR AN ELDERLY VETERAN

Mary H. had a dedicated caregiver who reached out to Home Touch to address the increased difficulty that Ms. H. was having getting into her shower. The Home Touch program converted her tub to a walk in shower, ensuring the home was safer and more accessible. This support not only improved the living conditions for Ms. H., but we also alleviated the caregiver’s stress of constantly fearing a dangerous fall.

ENHANCING ACCESSIBILITY FOR A SENIOR WITH MOBILITY CHALLENGES

Louise B, an elderly woman, faced mobility issues struggled with daily activities in his home. Home Touch completed accessibility modifications such as installing grab bars and widening her bathroom doorway were made. These changes significantly improved her ability to navigate her home safely, reducing the risk of falls and enhancing her overall quality of life.

Primary funding for Home Touch comes from the Area Agency for Aging in Broward County and the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
