In January 2010, BCMBC received federal funding from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration to train community members in green jobs in the build industry. The project was originally dubbed the Broward County Energy Training Partnership, but quickly expanded to serve residents of Miami-Dade County creating the new moniker; The South Florida Green Jobs Collaborative (SFGJC).

This effective partnership of members of the private and public sectors, committed to growing and sustaining a local green economy, is led by the Broward County Minority Builders (BCMBC), Energy Training Partnership (ETP), Opportunities Industrialization Center of Broward(OIC), and Pathways out of Poverty Program. The Collaborative is focused on training workers in the Green Construction Industry, increasing the demand for a Green Labor Force and increasing consumption of Green building products.
The efforts of the SFGJC are sustained through the Broward County Contractors Resource Center; where ongoing green jobs training and develop will continue.
